Dean Deborah Ross Wilcox Receives NHLA Ann Geisel Award of Merit
Deborah Ross Wilcox, SNHU Associate Dean of the Faculty and former Shapiro Library Technical Services Librarian, was presented the Ann Geisel Award of Merit at the 2008 New Hampshire Library Association Annual Meeting. This award, named in the memory of Peterborough Town Library Director Ann Geisel (1947-1999), is given to an individual, group or organization who has made significant contributions to the New Hampshire library community.
In presenting the award, NHLA President Amy Thurber said, “This year’s recipient has served New Hampshire libraries for 30 years. Her expertise and leadership has extended to all areas of librarianship within the state of New Hampshire and regionally through her service with the New England Library Association (NELA) and the Association of College and Research Libraries/New England Chapter. Her role as a founding member of the Greater Manchester Integrated Cooperative Library System (GMILCS) has positively impacted the development of that consortium for many years.” In her nomination letter, GMILCS President Dianne Hathaway states that ‘she always advocated for the good of GMILCS
Ms. Thurber also stated “it is easy to agree with the words written in another nomination letter – ‘She is an outstanding librarian, a dedicated pioneer in the New Hampshire library technology field, and a deserving recipient of the 2008 Ann Geisel Award of Merit’.”
Please join the faculty and staff of Shapiro Library and the administrators and staff of the Vice President for Academic Affairs office in congratulating Debbie Wilcox on this outstanding achievement.
