CED Student Project - Azusena Favela

Azusena Favela, of Los Angeles, is working on the Financial Literacy Education Client Project with HomeBoy Industries, a national model for employment and supportive services for at-risk young adults ages 18 to 30. The project seeks to teach financial literacy and instruct ex-offenders about the financial system and teach them how to sustain long-term financial relationships. The centerpiece of the project model is the "Navigator’s Project," a train-the-trainer's program in which ex-offenders teach newly released offenders about financial literacy and access to banking and financial services.

Favela is a financial services manager for CD-Tech, a nonprofit community development corporation in southern Los Angeles. He holds a B.A. in Chicano studies and political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
