Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation
Kicks Off Speakers Series with Talk on Business Fraud

Manchester, N.H. (Jan. 15, 2009) – Southern New Hampshire University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation will kick off its four-part speakers series on Jan. 27 with a discussion on business fraud. The series will be held the last Tuesday of each month through April, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in SNHU’s Mara Auditorium in Webster Hall. The series is free and open to the public.

Dr. Richard Hanson, SNHU professor of accounting and founder and executive director of the school’s Institute for Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination, will speak.

Although not on the scale of a $50 billion Ponzi scheme, business fraud does exist in New Hampshire and its occurrence is both frequent and detrimental to small businesses. Hanson will present specific examples of business fraud, the various motivations and attributes of the perpetrators and recommend actions small business owners can take to protect their businesses.

The center has the socially responsible mission to assist the community through its educational programs and business/nonprofit assistance efforts. CESI provides value to SNHU students through educational programs in small business management and entrepreneurship offered by the SNHU School of Business and the Department of Organizational Leadership.
