SNHU’s 3Year Honors Program Celebrates 10 Years of Excellence
Manchester, N.H. (April 27, 2009) – Southern New Hampshire University’s first-in-the-nation 3Year Honors Program will celebrate a decade of success with an event to congratulate its 10th graduating class on Friday, May 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the Hospitality Center. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and the general public are welcome to attend. Registration is required.
“This is an exciting time for the 3Year Honors Program,” says Program Director Ashley Liadis. “We have fundamentally changed how we think about higher education – focusing on integrated academic experiences and competency development rather than simply using the traditional course by course approach.”
Started in 1997, the 3Year Honors Program was designed as a result of a very competitive US Department of Education grant. The program provides a bachelor’s degree in business administration to academically talented students at a 25 percent savings, delivering the same academic content as a four-year program but in six semesters instead of eight. Students are expected to meet specific competencies that include communication, leadership, information technology, analytical and problem-solving skills upon graduation.
The event will showcase 25 graduating seniors who will present their senior academic consultancy projects for local area not-for-profit organizations such as the NH Supreme Court Society, NH Food Bank and the Women’s Business Center.
The program is based on the premise that learning occurs best when the academic objectives are clearly defined, measurable, attainable, and reinforced by the students. This program is designed for students who have the academic background and the desire to succeed in this intense educational environment.
