Continuing education adjunct faculty member James Duffy has received the 2009 Excellence in Teaching Award from Southern New Hampshire University.

Duffy, of Litchfield, N.H., has taught sociology courses at SNHU’s Manchester Center since 2003.

“He never fails to keep his students’ attention because of his upbeat, fun attitude towards teaching,” said one student in nominating Duffy for the award.

Duffy has worked in public education and middle school counseling

SNHU’s annual teaching excellence awards recognize one full-time faculty member and two adjunct faculty members who exemplify those qualities that set the university apart as a teaching institution: effectiveness as a classroom teacher, commitment to students through advising and tutoring, professional development, contributions toward building the reputation or image of the university, impact on graduates as viewed by alumni and a general attitude toward students that demonstrates concern for their welfare.
