H1N1 Influenza Information

H1N1 Update 10-23-09
Physician’s reports are indicating the following information related to H1N1

If a person has experienced flu symptoms- fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea - that has gotten better in three or four days and then a high fever reoccurs, it is possible that the person has developed a bacterial lung infection.  This should be taken seriously and a physician should be called immediately.

It is likely that the University and surrounding community will see significant numbers of H1N1 influenza cases this fall and winter. Just like any other flu, most people who come down with the H1N1 flu recover without complications. The difference with H1N1 is that more people in the 13-24 year-old-age range will get the flu. The University has made detailed plans and preparations for dealing with an influenza outbreak. All of our strategies are based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, and the NH Department of Health and Human Services.  We will post updated information as needed to keep everyone informed.
