Bob Seidman gets grant, publishes, & presents in Paris and at Duke University

Dr. Seidman was awarded a grant of $3,960 by Simio LLC to support teaching and research in simulation. This award takes the form of two copies of Simio Academic Edition for installation on SNHU computers. Simio is a new 3D object-oriented computer simulation and modeling software package and will be used by graduate students in Dr. Seidman’s IT630 Computer Simulation & Modeling course when they do comparative studies of simulation software.

“Highly Successful 3-Year Degree Program Graduates 10th Class in May 2009” was published in May by the Stanford University Center for Teaching and Learning Listserv to 30,000 subscribers and on the MIT-sponsored "The Tomorrow's Professor Blog."

"Alice First: 3D Interactive Game Programming" is in the Proceedings of the 2009 ACM-SIGCSE Annual Conference on Innovation & Technology in Computer Science Education. Presented at the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris in July. ITiCSE is the premier international conference on computers in education sponsored by the ACM. Attendees represented 32 countries.

“Alice via Interactive Game Programming” was a presentation to teachers and researchers from the US and Canada at the Duke University Alice Symposium in Durham, NC in June.

"Fluency with Alice" was revised to cover Alice 2.2. This 'workbook' accompanies Larry Snyder’s "Fluency with Information Technology: Skills, Concepts, and Capabilities, 3rd edition" published by Pearson/Addison-Wesley. Authors are SNHU CIT professors: Robert Seidman, Phil Funk, Jim Isaak (retired), and Lundy Lewis. Alice is a 3D virtual worlds, drag & drop, easy to learn computer programming language. The 'workbook' is really a stand-alone online book that takes the place of five JavaScript chapters in the Snyder book and has a movies and games creation pedagogical approach.
