Who is the BASHA program for?

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Hospitality Administration (BASHA) Program is intended to provide international students with the opportunities to participate in hospitality educational and experiential learning programs that facilitate the completion of the bachelor’s degree in the United States.  After the successful completion of the program students return home, prepared for management and leadership careers in the hospitality industry anywhere in the world.

The admission requirement for BASHA is not just a higher diploma but specifically a student should have completed at least the equivalent of 90 credit hours (30 subjects) of American education standards with significant coursework in hospitality and tourism related fields.

How long is the program?

It takes 14 months to complete your 10 courses and required supervised practical experience.

Are students required to complete a thesis?

No – the supervised practical training takes the place of a thesis.

What are the accommodations?

Fees cover your expenses for housing and meals on campus. First-year BASHA students are eligible only for double rooms and generally housed in New Castle or Washington residence halls. It is required that you live on campus for this program. Visit the Residence Life page for more information.

What types of supervised practical experience will be available?

Entry-level and supervisory-level positions are available in various departments such as front desk, food and beverage, and housekeeping.
All supervised practical experience positions in this program are based on personal interviews between our student candidates and property managers.  Placement decisions are made by the property managers based on the student’s attitude toward meeting the service expectations of clients, as well as quality and quantity of work experience, self efficacy, confidence, communication skills, and other abilities.  Placements will reflect the needs of the property at the time of the candidate interview.

Where will my supervised practical experience take place?

Most of our supervised practical experience will take place at a Marriott, Westin, Hyatt or other well-known hotels. These properties, are typically located in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, California and other states from year to year. Classmates assigned to the same area may choose to room together. Many of our placement properties have been BASHA partners for over a decade.

How much will I be paid during my supervised practical experience?

Your salary will depend on your qualifications and position within the property. Past students have earned between $1,100 and $1,400/month.
