Who is the BASHA program for?

The program has been designed for international students who have completed (or are about to complete) a three-year degree in tourism or hotel management. Students who have a diploma in tourism must have taken some courses in hotel management and/or have work experience in the hotel industry.

How long is the program?

It takes 14 months to complete your 10 courses and required internship.

Are students required to complete a thesis?

No – the work experience takes the place of a thesis.

What are the accommodations?

Fees cover your expenses for housing and meals on campus. First-year BASHA students are eligible only for double rooms and generally housed in Newcastle or Washington residence halls. It is required that you live on campus for this program. Visit the Residence Life page for more information.

What types of supervised practical experience will be available?

Entry-level and management-level positions are available in various departments as well as front desk, food and beverage, and housekeeping.

Where will my supervised practical experience take place?

Most of our supervised practical experience will take place at a Marriott, Westin, Hyatt or other well-known hotels, located in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and California. Classmates assigned to the same area will be your roommates there. Many placement properties have been BASHA partners for more than ten years.

How much will I be paid during my supervised practical experience?

Your salary will depend on your qualifications and position within the property. Past students have earned between $1,400 and $1,600/month.
