Go Teach Students with Special Needs

If you have a passion to work with children of all academic abilities, SNHU's B.A. in special education is the right program. Graduates are qualified to become special education teachers for grades kindergarten through 12.

Here you'll learn the skills essential to working with exceptional students; one-on-one, and in general, inclusion and resource classroom settings. In addition, the special education major gives you the knowledge, leadership skills and experience to make a difference in the classroom.

Highlights

  • You won’t have to wait until after graduation to put education theory into practice—SNHU students participate in field work programs as early as first semester, freshman year.
  • The major culminates in a 16-week student teaching experience, providing deep, hands-on experience.
  • Special education is a critical shortage area with a high demand for teachers certified in this area.
  • The major may be paired with another education major, such as secondary English education or elementary education.
  • Also available as a continuing education option.
