Focus Your Master of Science Degree in Accounting with a Concentration in Auditing

Capitalize on the growing demand for qualified accountants and auditors by earning your Master’s in Accounting with an Auditing Concentration from Southern New Hampshire University. Increase your chances of landing the accounting and auditing jobs of choice by learning about Sarbanes-Oxley and what steps companies must take to comply with these federal requirements. Improve your advancement potential by helping corporations meet the demand for greater transparency in financial reporting. Take courses that meet the International Standards on Auditing and earn the credit hour requirements to sit for the CPA exam in most states.

Southern New Hampshire University's Master of Science in Accounting with a Concentration in Auditing is a minimum of 36-credit degree program designed for accounting professionals. For students who have not earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business major, there may be two to three additional required courses to meet the Master of Science in Accounting with a Concentration in Auditing degree requirements.

Learn the Practical Skills You Need to Succeed in the Auditing Profession

Sparked by high-profile corporate scandals in financial reporting and the collapse of the banking, investing and housing industries, companies are searching for skilled professionals to fill important auditing jobs so they can comply with tougher standards and position their companies for future growth. Taught by experienced auditing professionals, this concentration prepares you to pursue auditing jobs with confidence. Students will learn:

  • Theoretical and practical skills companies look for today in potential employees, including how to use the latest technologies to solve common accounting auditing challenges.
  • Best practices for implementing transparency policies that meet federal legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • How to analyze a company’s financial reports and develop growth strategies based on the company's mission and goals.

Prepare Yourself for a Successful Auditing Career.

Driven by "an increase in the number of businesses, changing financial laws and corporate governance regulations, and increased accountability for protecting an organization's stakeholders," the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects much faster than average growth - 22 percent - in accounting and auditing careers between 2010 and 2020. Employment of bookkeeping, accounting and auditing clerks is also expected to rise in that same time period by 16 percent.

Southern New Hampshire University's auditing classes are taught by professors with years of practical experience in accountancy programs.
