Student Employment

The SNHU student employment program is developed to prepare students for “life after graduation” by providing part-time employment opportunities that give students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience (related to your course of study or not) and that encourage community service. As positions become available they are posted on the Office of Financial Aid bulletin board and on the student positions/jobs web page.  To apply, print the application, fill it out, and submit it to the area offering the job.

Types of jobs:

  • Federal Work Study & Community Work Study positions are subsidized by the government and awarded based on financial need.  Only students receiving a financial aid award with work study dollars can apply for jobs in these two classifications.
  • University paid positions are open to any student, regardless of financial need, who meets SNHU’s employment eligibility requirements.  Funding for these positions comes directly from the institutional budget and positions are limited in number.

The pay range for student employees from Aug. 26, 2007 - May 19, 2008 is $6.50 - $7.50 per hour. The Office of Financial Aid will provide information that will assist students in locating employment; however, neither employment nor earnings are guaranteed.

Federal Work-Study
Many university departments hire work-study students. Jobs are commonly found in the Library, Dining Services, Athletics, Facilities, Marketing and department offices. There are a number of on campus opportunities available.

University Paid Positions
Southern New Hampshire University also offers a limited number of University Paid position. Pay periods, pay rates and job duties are the same as with the work-study program; however, there is no total earnings ceiling per academic year.

Off Campus Employment
Manchester is New Hampshire's Queen City and the population center of the state. Part-time employment opportunities do exist in the local area. Students should carefully weigh the pros & cons of working off campus (i.e. transportation, work hours, flexibility).  The university's Career Development Office coordinates information concerning these opportunities and acts as a liaison with local employers. In partnership with the Career Development Office, SNHU Recruit provides full-time, part-time, temporary and internship opportunities targeted by employers to Southern New Hampshire University students and alumni.

Community Service Work Study

Encouraging students to give back to the community, SNHU partners with area non-profit service organizations for its Community Service Work-study Program. Through the federally funded Work-study Program, SNHU students can be compensated for their time and effort spent off-campus assisting certain organizations.
