“I step aside and let (students) interact and learn from each other.”
David Premo started his career publishing business-to-business publications. Now he uses his English and communications skills teaching in the university’s online classrooms.

“I like to make my discussions student-centered,” he says. “By stimulating questions, I can steer folks to discover. Once that happens, I step aside and let them interact and learn from each other.”

Premo believes his job is to make sure his students understand the material.

“The lack of student understanding is my problem, and therefore I will adjust my technique or coaching methods so they do understand,” he says. “There is nothing more satisfying then seeing the lights come on and the ‘a-ha’ moment. Those moments are just as real and just as satisfying in a virtual environment.”
