CED 803 - Qualitative Research Methods
This course is designed to familiarize advancedýgraduate students with a range of qualitativeýresearch methods, and prepare them to use theseýmethods in writing dissertations, articles, andýfunding applications. Qualitative methods are anýimportant tool in community economic developmentýand serve to illustrate best practices, policy,ýestimate community impact or needs, and evaluateýcommunity-based organizations. This course willýemphasize the use of qualitative methods, dataýcollection and analysis, and cover topics on caseýstudies, use of secondary sources, focus groupsýand in-depth interviewing, observational fieldýresearch, and writing qualitative researchýreports. Prerequisite: CED801 or facultyýpermission.
