Sexually Transmitted Infections are a serious issue among university students today. There are many different types of infections including chlamydia, herpes, genital warts, HIV and AIDS. They fall into two categories, viral and bacterial. Bacterial can be treated with antibiotics whereas viral is lifelong and only the symptoms can be treated.
The most effective prevention is abstinence; however, it is not always the most practical method. When used properly, condoms are adequate protection against both STI'S and pregnancy.
