Mary SquireHead Coach
Mary Squire was named the first head coach in the history of the Southern New Hampshire University lacrosse program in the spring of 2003.
She has wasted no time in building SNHU into one of the top programs in the Northeast-10 Conference. After going winless in the program's first season, she guided the team to a 6-8 record in 2005 and in 2006 she led the Penmen to an 8-5 record and a first-ever appearance in the NE-10 Tournament. SNHU upset Bentley College in the opening round of the league playoffs, before losing to eventual tournament champion Stonehill College in the semifinals.
Squire brings with her over 15 years of coaching experience, primarily at the youth and high school level. She most recently served as assistant field hockey coach at Manchester Central High School and previously served as an assistant with various high school and youth lacrosse and field hockey programs in California from 1996 to 1998.
A native of Wyncote, Pa., she was a five-sport athlete at Cheltenham High School and collected all-league honors in lacrosse, field hockey and swimming as a junior and senior. She was also named All-America in field hockey as a senior and was selected for the U.S. Field Hockey futures program. She also competed at the National Field Hockey Festival from 1996 to 1999.
She attended Temple University where she lettered in both lacrosse and field hockey, and played under the direction of US Lacrosse Hall of Famer Tina Sloan Green. She left Temple in 1992 and spent four years in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, NC. She owns an associate's degree in political science from Golden West Junior College and earned her bachelor's degree in business studies from SNHU in January of 2007.
Squire, who is also a veteran field hockey and lacrosse official, resides with her husband and their two children, Luke and Sallie.
