Terry Prouty, a 1988 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University and member of the SNHU Athletic Hall of Fame, was named women's soccer coach at SNHU on May 10,1999. She also serves as senior women's administrator at SNHU.
Prouty succeeded Peter Tufts, who served as SNHU's women's soccer coach since the program's inception in 1982.
Prior to returning to her alma mater, Prouty spent two years at Keene State College where she served as the school's assistant director of athletics and assistant women's soccer coach.
A native of East Bridgewater, MA, Prouty began her career in college athletics in 1994 when she was named senior women's administrator and women’s soccer coach at Daniel Webster College. She would also serve as DWC's softball coach and eventually took over as the school's director of athletics before leaving for Keene State in 1997.
Her extensive soccer coaching experience also includes stints with the Nashua Girls Soccer Association, the New Hampshire Olympic Development Program and the New Hampshire Lady Phantoms.
She began her coaching career at Manchester (N.H.) Memorial High School, where she served as softball coach from 1993 to 1995.
Prouty excelled on the soccer and softball fields during her four years at SNHU. A four-time all-New England selection in soccer, she led the program to 68 victories and a pair of Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) titles.
One of the most dominant pitchers in the history of SNHU softball, she led the team to its only two ECAC Tournament appearances and is still ranks high among the program's all-time leaders in career strikeouts (131), career wins (32) and career earned run average (1.50).
She was inducted into the SNHU's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.
A 1984 graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Prouty collected Boston Globe, Boston Herald and Brockton Enterprise All-Scholastic honors in both soccer and softball.
Prouty resides in Hooksett, NH with her husband Ray, who serves as Associate Athletic Director at SNHU.
