Abstract of the International Business and Information Technology
Supported by a Grant from U. S. Department of Education,
Business International Education, BIE
The BIE grant will support three critical activities of the International Business Department of Southern New Hampshire University (formerly New Hampshire College). Initially, the grant will support establishment of a graduate certificate in Information Technology and International Business. This certificate will use the information technology and its application to the process of globalization of small and medium size businesses.
Secondly, the grant will help the development of an International E-Commerce Incubator in partnership with the already existing Manchester Business Incubator, to help small and medium size companies take advantage of information technology and opportunities abroad. The incubator will provide models as well as necessary assistance for these companies to become global.
Finally, integration of the College's graduate and undergraduate programs as one Business School has created a substantial need for faculty development in the area of international business. The grant will be used to strengthen the internationalization of faculty. While these three activities are separate components of the grant, they are highly inter-related and the funding can be leveraged to implement all of these activities.
The partners for these activities included the Manchester business incubator, New Hampshire International Trade Association, and the Office of International Commerce of the State of New Hampshire. These partners are an integral part of the activities proposed by the grant.
