ARC Mission
Since 1982, the mission of the School of Community Economic Development has been to educate CED practitioners, giving them the skills, tools and techniques designed to have the greatest impact in strengthening the social and economic fabric of their communities. The Applied Research Center seeks to enhance the School's support to professionals and policy-makers through research, colloquia, institutes and publications. The Center offers graduate students an opportunity to work with faculty and build a working mastery over research traditions in the field.

Governance
The Applied Research Center is managed by a faculty director and overseen by an advisory board. The Board is comprised of the School's full-time research faculty, a student representative, and School staff appointed by the Director. The Board's Chair is either the head of the School or a member of the Board of Overseers appointed by the head of the School.

Operations
The Applied Research Center in CED engages in domestic and international research grounded in professional practice. The Center offers its research capacity in support of community action and its mission, and seeks to advance the body of knowledge in CED through scholarship, research and publication of theory and action aimed at the continuing growth of CED professionals.
