Penmen Place 9th at Le Moyne Spring Invitational
MARCELLUS, N.Y. - The Southern New Hampshire University golf team placed ninth out of 15 schools at the Le Moyne College Spring Invitational this past Saturday at the par-72 Links at Sunset Ridge Golf Course. Sunday’s second-round action was cancelled due to rain.
Pace University placed first with a team score of 295 (+7). Bryant University (299), Saint Thomas Aquinas College (304), Le Moyne (308) and Assumption College (311) rounded out the top five. Dan McCarthy of Le Moyne took individual honors, as he shot a two-under par (70) and edged Dan Psinakis of Pace and Jason Thresher of Bryant, who both carded a 71.
SNHU was paced by sophomore Andrew Maziarz (Cumberland, RI), who placed fifth out of 78 golfers with a two-over 74.
Seniors Ed Natti (Lisbon, NH), Ed Boyd (Woburn, MA) and Mitch Edwards (Woodstock, NH) also competed for the Penmen. Natti placed 36th with an 81, while Boyd and Edwards both finished 39th with an 82.
The Penmen return to Sunday (4/22) when they take part in opening round action of the UMass Lowell River Hawk Invitational in Andover, Mass.
