MANCHESTER, N.H. – A goal by Jaclyn Evans (Georgetown, MA) late in the first half proved to be the difference as No. 9 College of Saint Rose posted a 1-0 Northeast-10 women’s soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University at Larkin Field on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Knights, who posted their seventh straight shutout to start the season, are now 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the league, while the Penmen are 4-6-1 and 2-4 in NE-10 play.
Evans’ goal would come just shy of the contest’s 38-minute mark. Following a battle for the ball where it bounced off several players for both teams, Evans collected the ball at the top of the box and fired a laser through traffic into the middle of the goal for what proved to be the eventual game-winner.
Saint Rose keeper Lauren Steinberg (Hopewell Junction, NY) made one save en route to the shutout, while Penmen goalie Stef Young (Natick, MA) made three saves on the afternoon as the guests outshot SNHU 9-4.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday evening when it travels to UMass Lowell for a 7:00 contest.
