SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A goal by Steve Blackwell midway through the second half lifted Le Moyne College to a 1-0 Northeast-10 men’s soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University this afternoon. The Dolphins improve to 11-2-2 overall and 8-2-2 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen saw a four-game unbeaten streak snapped as it is now 4-5-5 and 4-4-2 in the league.
After a scoreless first half, the Dolphins got on the board in the 69th minute on a throw-in Erice Rudat’s throw glanced off another Le Moyne player and to Blackwell at the top of the box. His blast found the back of the net for the game’s lone tally.
Le Moyne keeper Steve White made four saves to earn the shutout, while SNHU goalie Dan Pelc (Hamilton, ONT) also made four stops. The Dolphins outshot the Penmen 14-11, including a 10-2 advantage in the second half after the guests posted a 9-4 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes.
Southern New Hampshire plays its final regular season home game of the season Tuesday when it hosts Bentley College in a 7:00 match at Larkin Field.
