WORCESTER, Mass. – Stephen Blaisdell recorded two goals and an assist as Assumption College recorded a 4-1 Northeast-10 men’s soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Friday night.  The Greyhounds, who are coached by former Penmen standout and assistant coach Jeremy Bonomo, earned their first-ever win over SNHU in 13 tries (9-1-3) and improved to 5-9-3 overall and 4-7-2 in the league.  Southern New Hampshire is now 5-6-5 overall and 5-5-2 in the league.

The Greyhounds struck three times in the first half to build a 3-1 lead.  Brendan McGee got Assumption on the board just 3:29 into the match when he took a pass from Blaisdell and put it home.  The Penmen would tie the score in the 28th minute when Daniel Hernandez (Salem, NH) scored on a rebound of a Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) shot.

Blaisdell would score his two goals in a 2:36 span late in the first half.  On his first goal at the 42:10 mark he scored on a long pass from Doug Starbird.  With just 14 seconds before intermission, Blaisdell would score on a breakaway where he beat SNHU keeper Dan Pelc (Hamilton, ONT).

Joe Drain would add an unassisted tally for Assumption at the 78:23 mark to account for the final.

Brandan Sullivan made seven saves for Assumption as SNHU outshot the Greyhounds 12-9.  Pelc made five saves for the Penmen.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday when it travels to UMass Lowell for the regular season finale at 7:00.
