Dellea-Messner Earns NE-10 All-Academic Honors

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Junior Svea Dellea-Messner (Windham, NH) of the Southern New Hampshire University women’s cross country team was named to the 2007 Northeast-10 All-Academic First Team, it was announced on Wednesday.  For Dellea-Messner, it marks her second-straight selection to the All-Academic Team, as she was a Second Team choice last season.

Dellea-Messner, a Education major carrying a 3.93 grade point average, was SNHU’s top runner in six of seven meets this season.  She posted a season-best time of 21:46 at the Northeast-10 championship on October 21 and recorded a pair of top-10 finishes, placing fourth at the Castleton State Invitational September 9 and eighth at the Bryant Invitational on September 22.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
