This beginning-level course introduces students toýthe speaking, listening, reading, and writingýskills necessary for basic communication in ModernýStandard Arabic (MSA), the standard language ofýthe Arab world. Designed for students with noýprevious course work in Arabic, this courseýfocuses on learning the alphabet, buildingývocabulary and sentence patterns in communicativeýcontexts, and pronunciation. Students will alsoýbe introduced to simple survival skills. Readingýand writing will be introduced and acquiredýthrough different activities in conjunction withýspeaking and listending skills.
