CED 812 - Social Theory
This course establishes a foundation in criticalýtheory for exploring the interdisciplinaryýtheoretical domains relevant to the study ofýcommunity economic development. Drawing on theýdualities of agency and structure, micro andýmacro, and the individual and society, we examineýtheories of poverty, social capital, democraticýorganization and civil society, globalization andýthe social economy. The understanding of theoryýand its role in the development of policy is alsoýconsidered. Prerequisite: CED811.
