This course helps managers to performýsophisticated analysis and interpret financialýinformation for decision making and financialýplanning from a CED perspective. It includesýdetailed analysis of the budgeting process,ýincluding relating budget to organizational goals,ýand the accounting and financial methods employedýby management for evaluating the health andýoverall performance of an enterprise (analysis ofýfinancial statements, ratios, trends, fundingýand capital structure, asset management,ýperformance forecasts, calculations of financialýpositions), allocating capital resources (types ofýcosts, cost analysis, cost of capital, time valueýof money, net present value, rate of return), cashýmanagment and cash flow analysis including long-ýterm planning and variance analysis, profitabilityýliquidity and solvency (ability to meet short-termýobligations through revenue, long-term obligationsýthrough future revenue, and to attract and retainýfinancing). This course is taught from theýperspective of a CED nonprofit or for-profitýsubsidiary, and includes recent trends in mergersýand acquisitions.
