Coastal Enterprises CEO to Speak at SNHU Maine Commencement
Ronald L. Phillips, president of Coastal Enterprises Inc., will give the commencement address at the Southern New Hampshire University Maine Center Commencement.
The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, in the Crooker Theater in Brunswick High School on Maquoit Road; 122 graduates are eligible to march.
The Naval Air Station Brunswick Honor Guard will do the Presentation of Colors and soloist Philip L. Chabot will sing the national anthem. Lt. Bernard J. Welch, CHC, USNR, of the Naval Air Station Brunswick will perform the Invocation and Benediction. Joel Allen Merry will be the undergraduate student speaker and Matthew Henry Sanford will be the graduate student speaker. Cmd. Kevin S. Brennan of the Naval Air Station Brunswick will give the congratulatory address.
Phillips is president and founder of Coastal Enterprises Inc., a nonprofit community development corporation and community development financial institution based in Wiscasset. Organized in 1977 with roots in the civil rights movement, CEI’s mission is to create economically and environmentally healthy communities in which all people, especially those with low incomes, can reach their full potential. CEI has pursued this mission primarily in rural regions by creating jobs, affordable housing and social services for people and places left out of the economic mainstream. With 40 board and advisory volunteer board members, subsidiaries representing the public and private sectors, a staff of 85 and capital under management of $490 million, CEI is one of the nation’s major finance development organizations.
The SNHU Maine Center now offers 25 certificate, associate, bachelor’s and master’s programs. The university is fully accredited, and has been offering degree programs in Brunswick for 40 years. Financial aid is available for qualified students.
