Southern New Hampshire University has been recognized as a Great Colleges to Work For by The Chronicle of Higher Education. This is the seventh consecutive year the private, nonprofit university has made the list.
The annual survey was based on responses from more than 43,500 campus employees at 196 four-year and 82 two-year colleges. Employees were asked to agree or disagree, using a five-point scale, with 60 statements on leadership, career development and job satisfaction.
"We believe that if our employees feel like they matter to us - reflected in our benefits, culture and values - they will bring that same care and 'valuing' to our students," SNHU President Paul LeBlanc said. "I think that being a 'Great College to Work For' very much helps us become a ‘best college in which to be a success,’ the promise we make to all our students."
SNHU is also one of 10 four-year colleges and universities to receive The Chronicle's Honor Roll status. This distinction is given to institutions that were cited most often across the recognition categories, including collaborative governance, work/life balance, compensation and benefits, and professional development programs.
"Given the pressures that so many families face today and growing wealth and inequity gap, I think all of us who work at SNHU feel we are working to make the society not only better educated, but also more just and ample in opportunity," LeBlanc said. "How many jobs send you home at night with that pride of work?"
The Chronicle of Higher Education is the No. 1 source of news, information and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. The Chronicle's audited website traffic is more than 12.8 million pages a month, seen by more than 1.9 million unique visitors.
