Criminal Justice vs. Justice Studies

Unlike traditional criminal justice degree programs, our online Justice Studies-Law and Legal Process degree takes an interdisciplinary approach that goes beyond courses in criminal justice and law enforcement. Unlike a criminal justice degree, our Justice Studies degree programs provide an overview of the justice system, criminal law, corrections, legal and social science research, and more. You'll benefit from basic concepts and survey courses, which will allow you to more deeply explore your specific interests. Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the Justice Studies program are prepared for a number of careers in law, business security, federal service agencies, terrorism prevention, the courts, corrections, dispute resolution, victim advocacy, the military and more. Please note, additional specific training and experience may be required to qualify for some of these roles.

Employment of probation officers and correctional treatment specialists are expected to increase 18 percent through 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Transfer of Credit

If you are a student who wants to transfer to SNHU or simply want to finish what you’ve started, we try to make transferring as easy as possible. We will accept up to 90 transferred academic credits and we automatically complete an official credit evaluation as part of the application review process.

BS in Justice Studies - Law and Legal Process Curriculum

Through a carefully planned program of study, our online Justice Studies-Law and Legal Process degree students will discover the inner workings and the broad scope of the American justice system. Tailor the program according to your career goals. All students take courses in policing and law enforcement, crime and criminology, and law and legal processes. In light of the professional nature of the justice system, students are also encouraged to explore courses in such aligned areas as business, psychology, sociology, information technology and political science.

To earn your online Justice Studies-Law and Legal Process bachelor's degree, you must successfully complete the following courses. Courses are three credits unless otherwise noted.
