The Master of Education degree program in Secondary English Education is designed for those with an undergraduate degree in English, literature or a related field who wish to become a secondary English teacher. Related degrees in such areas as creative writing, humanities or journalism must contain 10 undergraduate English language and literature classes. Earn your grad degree in Secondary English Education from SNHU and leverage your passion while you gain the teaching skills you need to become a state-certified public or private school English teacher. Earn NH Certification to Teach English

The Secondary English Education MEd is offered at the Manchester, N.H., campus, an easy commute from communities throughout the region. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible for licensure in New Hampshire in Secondary English Education (grades 5-12). Your grad degree in Secondary English Education degree enables you to teach reading, writing, literature, grammar and linguistics.

New Hampshire requires that all secondary education candidates complete 30 undergraduate credit hours in specific content areas for certification. A review of your transcript(s) will be conducted and the results reported to you before the end of your first term at SNHU. Based on this review, you may be required to take additional coursework to meet the state's content area requirements. Any missing coursework must be completed prior to student teaching.
