"The classes and information learned from SNHU will be invaluable to my career."
I am from Grand Rapids, Mich., and a 2001 graduate of Jenison High School in Jenison, Michigan. I earned a bachelor’s degree from a Michigan university in 2005 in business administration with a major in personal financial planning. I worked as a financial advisor for two years, and at that time I was looking to further my education. I looked into the National Guard and Army Reserves as an opportunity to earn educational benefits, and at the time felt a strong calling to serve the country. I joined the United States Army in 2007 and became a field artillery officer in 2009. I served in both Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom). My awards and decorations in the Army included: Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Badge and the Air Assault Badge. I left the Army in early 2014, to pursue a career in accounting and finance. I started taking classes at SNHU in 2013, working toward a master’s in accounting and finance. The classes and information learned from SNHU will be invaluable to my career and the progression toward becoming a certified public accountant in Tennessee.
