"You may have to reinvent yourself along the way, but trust me, it isn't that hard."
I started going to a local community college right out of high school, but stopped to have a family. I returned again in my late 30's. I took another break and just two years ago, returned to school again, now that my family is all grown. It has been a long journey, but has given me a chance to change majors and to finally be where I want to be: in psychology helping individuals and families find their place in this life. I raised six children, who are all happy and successful—my definition is being where they want to be—and I feel I have something to give to those who are struggling with life decisions. My family has a nickname for me: “Elise, the one who reinvents herself.” I have been a young devout mother, a divorced single mom, an unwed mother, a foster mom, and a stepmom. All the while, I’ve kept the plates balanced in the air. This spring, I graduate and get Medicare, which is not exactly my original plan, but I still got here. Don't quit on your dreams. If you don't have one, then find one! You may have to reinvent yourself along the way, but trust me, it isn't that hard.
