"I never thought I would go very far in my formal education, let alone be working on my MS in Forensic Accounting."
It is quite difficult to just start talking about my story when it has barely begun. I've always had a thirst for knowledge, whether it comes from books or from teachers, but I never thought I would go very far in my formal education, let alone be working on my MS in Forensic Accounting.
I have many people to thank, including my parents and my teachers and mentors from high school. If it wasn’t for their persistence and faith in me, I would probably have been another stereotypical statistic for our town. In a quest for the knowledge that moves me, I have come to learn that there are many things I like, but nothing has impacted me or caught my attention as much as law enforcement.
I’ve always had a thing for mysteries. I’ve been reading Nancy Drew books since I was seven and have been intrigued by Sherlock Holmes’ deduction capabilities. I had just never made the connection that perhaps law enforcement was my calling.
SNHU has made it possible to study two fields that are of great importance to me, accounting and forensics. With the help of my advisor, Justin, it has been easy for me to plan my classes and to get help whenever I have any questions or problems.
One full-time job is hard. Now, just imagine two! My studies have always been my “job,” and as long as I’m capable of learning more, I will gladly do so. Especially when there are people, such as the experienced professors I’ve had the pleasure of working with, willing to teach me and quench my never-ending thirst for knowledge!
