"I was surprised how easy it was to transfer."
While Jordany Rodriguez was a student at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Mass., he learned about the prospect of transferring to SNHU from Brendan Stamm, an assistant director of transfer admission who paid a visit to one of Rodriguez’s classes.
“He spoke about how easy it was to transfer and how fast and reliable the transfer advisors were, and I took that into account,” Rodriguez recalls.
A New York City native who grew up in Haverhill, Rodriguez subsequently struck up a rapport with Stamm, exchanging e-mails with him frequently to ensure his course credits at Northern Essex would transfer to SNHU. As he neared his associate’s degree in computer information science at Northern Essex in the spring of 2012, Rodriguez applied and was accepted to SNHU at an on-the-spot admission decision day Stamm hosted at the community college.
After being accepted, Rodriguez completed additional course work at Northern Essex before enrolling at SNHU in the fall of 2012. “Even after I was accepted with all my credits, I was able to add three more courses from Northern Essex, which saved me some money,” he says.
Rodriguez is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science and holds a work-study job helping students understand SNHU’s academic technology. Meanwhile, he has become involved in SNHU’s diversity and fashion clubs. While aspiring to an information-technology career, he credits Stamm for helping him along the way. “Any questions I had, he was just an e-mail away,” Rodriguez says. “He was a real help.”
