"I couldn't be more thankful for what SNHU has given me."
You won’t see Kate McCaughey ’10 gliding across campus in a long gown, high heels and a tiara.
The reigning Miss Rhode Island USA, a student in SNHU’s graduate marketing program, looks like a typical college student chatting with friends or hurrying to a class.
“SNHU is a small community,” says the communication alumna who was named Most Outstanding Graduate. “When I’d go to the cafeteria, I knew I’d see someone there I knew, and in four out of five classes, I’d have a friend.”
Kate concentrated in public relations, studying everything from journalism and advertising to marketing and PR. She interned with the Manchester Monarchs, New Hampshire Easter Seals and Regan Communications.
“Not only do I believe I’m getting an excellent education, but I’ve been able to apply it to all my internships,”she says.
Now Kate is a graduate assistant in the School of Arts and Sciences while she earns her master’s degree online. After she graduates, she plans to work in marketing communications for a beauty company.
“It’s been absolutely amazing,” she says. “Between my classroom experiences and relationships, I couldn't be more thankful for what SNHU has given me."
