"I knew the best place for me was at Southern New Hampshire University."
My name is Kate. I am a 40-year-old single mother of two. I had my first child at a very young age and didn't pursue my college education. I have always worked simply to support my kids. After living in N.H. my whole life, at 37 I decided it was time for a change. My daughter and I packed everything up and moved to sunny Florida. My son struggled for a long time with behavioral and mental issues. Through our struggles, I worked with some amazing people: counselors, probation officers and school advocates. I have decided that I want to give back by becoming that person that helps a child and their family. Going back to school and working full-time as a single mom of a teenage girl is not easy. My daughter is so incredibly supportive, and we sit and do homework together. I am pursuing my degree in psychology and would like to counsel juveniles and their families. Being born and raised in N.H., I knew the best place for me was at Southern New Hampshire University.
