"Receiving my master's in psychology will be a big step, as it will be the highest degree that anyone in my family will have."
I have been in school for the last four years with another online university, where I received my associate and bachelor’s in human service management. I have had many different kinds of jobs. I was a waitress, truck driver, substitute teacher and emergency dispatcher to name a few.
About 10 years ago, a disc herniated in my back and laid me up for about five years. I was depressed—almost to the point of suicide—and very angry. I tried so many different pain medications and therapies, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, I stopped taking pain drugs and went all-natural. Now, I am able to walk with the right shoes for short distances and I can drive and do some of the things that I missed doing years ago.
Enrolling at Southern New Hampshire University was a big decision for me. I was looking for a school that had breaks and worked with my work schedule. I am looking forward to starting again and marking another goal off my list. Receiving my master's in psychology will be a big step, as it will be the highest degree that anyone in my family will have. My ultimate goal is to get my doctorate in Organizational Psychology and work with veterans.
