MS Accounting, Class of 2015

"The magic of taking these courses has been the phenomenal synergy between my job and what I learn in each class."

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in both accounting and finance from a university in Pennsylvania in 2011. Immediately upon graduation, I moved to Massachusetts (without a job) to be with my now wife. This transition was difficult because the institute that I attended in Pennsylvania was not well-known in Massachusetts. After working for a few years in Massachusetts, I started at a company that was, basically, my dream job (accounting work and in the technology industry). My new boss told me that he was taking classes online at SNHU and recommended that I do the same. Thus, I began taking classes in January 2013, and I have taken one class each semester ever since.

The magic of taking these courses has been the phenomenal synergy between my job and what I learn in each class. In many cases, what I learn each week in my classes directly affects how I perform my job on a daily basis, giving me a new perspective on accounting, or leading me to ask questions that ensure that we are applying accounting treatments correctly. With my anticipated graduation date of December 2015, I will obtain my MS in Accounting and will then pursue a certification or degree in management information systems (MIS). The MS in Accounting degree that I receive at SNHU will be crucial to this career path because having both accounting and IS education will make me an extremely valuable candidate for a wide variety of positions that will greatly enrich my career and allow me to reach my full potential.
