"My advisor, Maggie Crotti, has been wonderful. She is always there to guide me."
I am currently in the beginning of my junior year and anticipate graduating in 2017 with a B.A. in psychology with a concentration in mental health and a minor in organizational leadership. I made the decision to return to school in 2011, with the encouragement from my husband and daughter. I was nervous, as I had not been in a classroom in over ten years. My first class was a hybrid class. It was the perfect way to ease my way back into school and to acclimate to the online Blackboard system. Since then, I have taken a combination of hybrid, in class and online only classes. I plan to pursue my master’s degree in either school psychology or special education after graduation. The terms go by quickly, and there is a lot of material covered in a short time. There are days that it is tough to juggle family, work and school, but you just have to push through it. I find that time management is crucial. Look over your syllabus before the class starts and come up with a schedule that works for you to get all of the reading, Blackboard posts, tests and papers completed. My advisor, Maggie Crotti, has been wonderful. She is always there to guide me in the right direction and answer my questions about my major or classes I am looking into. I would advise everyone to reach out to their advisors; they are truly an invaluable resource.
