Sue Fraser

MS Organizational Leadership, Class of 2014

"SNHU has enabled me to work in a field I love, making life better for my employees and their families."

With a D- average, I barely graduated from high school. I grew up knowing I was not college material, so I never put in the effort to excel in school; however, I wanted to make a difference in the world and knew I could not do so without an education.

The years flew by without me having the ability to start my education. When my kids were in the 3rd and 5th grade, I finally reached a point where I could afford to go back to school. My husband and kids fully supported my dream for an education.

I did not know what I wanted or how to find out what would be right for me. I was so anxious that I actually cried during a meeting to register for classes at a local community college. I attended classes on campus for a year locally, but felt out-of-place in classrooms full of 18- to 24- year-olds, and then we moved to a town with no nearby colleges.

I checked out online programs at other community colleges, but I just did not like their offerings. Finally, I discovered that that the community colleges I had attended had transfer credit agreements with SNHU. Ultimately, I enrolled in online courses through SNHU and finished my associate degree. Next thing I knew, I was finishing my BA in Social Science. I even decided to stay in school to earn an MS in Organizational Leadership while working full-time.

It has been 8 years, and I will graduate with my master’s degree in June. SNHU helped me to discover that I love learning! Thanks to SNHU’s guidance, I started studying a subject that I thought would be best, but ultimately ended up completing a degree program I love.

Professionally, I have grown. I am now a District Human Resource Manager, and secured my Professional Human Resources (PRH) certification. Without SNHU, I would not have made it this far. My experiences at SNHU have impacted not just me, but those around me. My children grew up knowing the importance of education, and have attended college themselves. SNHU has enabled me to work in a field I love, making life better for my employees and their families.
