"I'm really just trying to make my parents proud."
Patricia Stansfield '04, a special education paraprofessional in the Nashua, N.H., School District, graduated (with honors) from Southern New Hampshire University’s Nashua Location with a psychology degree and a 4.0 GPA.
She is thrilled her daughter, Jill, who was accepted at SNHU after high school but chose to take some time off first, is following her lead.
“I didn’t want her to wait as long as I did,” Patricia says. “She’s seen me working on my classes, and she knows how important it is to me.”
Jill says seeing her mom getting great grades was inspirational. A visit with an advisor her mother recommended also helped.
“He asked all the right questions,” she says. “It was more than anybody (at other colleges) had ever given me.”
Jill is pursuing an associate degree in business administration with the hope of making it into management. But that isn’t her only reason for attending SNHU.
“I’m just really trying to make my parents proud,” she says.
