"I really like the courses offered with this degree."
I had a child at 17 years old and never got to finish high school. I received my GED in 2009, against very big odds. I completed a certificate in medical office management a decade later, while homeless. I went from sleeping in a car to a shelter to a home of my own. I battled homelessness, off and on, for 10 years and with a son the same age of each year of homelessness. I always knew that I wanted to help others in my position — ones that have been through sexual abuse and family/homeless issues. So I decided that I wanted to go to school to be a counselor or social worker of some sort.
I did my homework on schools, and I came across Southern New Hampshire University, and I decided that this was the school for me! I decided to take the bachelor's degree in sociology program because of the wide range of career options. I really like the courses offered with this degree.
I will be graduating from SNHU the same year that my oldest son, Chris, will be graduating high school. He is very proud of me. I don't want to work at fast food restaurants the rest of my life — I want a career. This is the road I have chosen, and I couldn't be happier! Thank you for allowing me to come to this school and complete my dreams of becoming a success not only in my eyes, but also in my boys' eyes!
