"My advisor, Christine, helped me every step of the way."
It was actually never my intention to get a college degree. I grew up in a very old-fashioned family and believed I would get married and have my own family, which I would stay home and raise. As my children have gotten older and faltered in their own education, it became evident that if I were going to get them to move forward with their goals, I would have to be the example. I enrolled at SNHU, unsure of what I could accomplish or even unsure of what area of study I wanted to pursue. My advisor, Christine, helped me every step of the way. I changed majors, dropped classes when my work schedule got to be too much and added additional classes later when I could once again devote more time. My boys are now 21 and 17. They have watched me spend my evenings doing homework and studying. They saw my sense of pride the day I received my associate degree and in three months will share my accomplishment in receiving my bachelor's degree. Although some days were exhausting juggling work, kids, and school, It's all been worth it to show my boys how it is possible to accomplish anything if you are willing to dedicate yourself to it. To me, this is success.
