"Thank you SNHU for providing 100% online study, so I can manage all parts of my life without having to sacrifice much."
Ever since I was a teenager, I wanted to become a therapist. I wanted to be someone that was proactive in helping other people heal from their mental issues and disorders. I became a mother at the age of 19 and decided that an advanced career just wasn't in the cards for me. I made my peace with that and settled into obtaining a career in a short period of time, so I could be more available to my two sons and still make enough financially to support my little family. I moved away to North Carolina as an Army wife. Although I'm no longer married, I still reside in North Carolina, and I have made my way to be a student once more in my field of choice.
I currently work as a medical assistant, and I am working with patients every day. I don't feel that my position enables me to help the patients as much as I would like. I see the medical side of how we treat people, and I truly believe that to heal fully, we need to address the psychological side as well. Now that I am back in school, I feel confident that I will be able to work as a therapist, take control of my life, and play a crucial role in helping others take control of their own lives. I feel blessed that I am given a second chance at the future I've always wanted, while still being able to be home raising my children.
