"I was surprised I could both work towards the degree for the career I wanted, and I could do it from the comfort of home."
My name is Samantha, and I am studying forensic psychology here at SNHU. The road that led me here was full of bumps, but I made it! Growing up, I was a ward of the state and bounced around from foster home to foster home. When I turned 18, I "aged out" of the system and needed to figure out my life plan. Though I had always known I wanted to work as a forensic psychologist, I was told I financially could not follow my dreams. I ended up deciding to take a certificate degree doing cosmetology the quicker, cheaper route. Halfway through my training, I became pregnant with my daughter. My circumstances changed, and I realized that I needed to be happy with what I did in life and set an example for my daughter. I wanted her to have a better life than I did. I quit cosmetology school and took a second look at my dream career.
After tons of research I was surprised I could both work towards the degree for the career I wanted, and I could do it from the comfort of home. SNHU is the best thing that has happened for me, the classes are challenging and rewarding, and the staff is quick, knowledgeable and friendly. I hope that they will take me back for when I pursue my master’s degree, because I could not picture myself anywhere else. GO PENMEN!!
