"I am very grateful to SNHU for giving me the opportunity to rediscover what it is I have a talent for and what I really love to do!"
I was born and raised in Colorado, but I decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Hampshire. My dad’s family lives in New Hampshire and the literature programs are rated higher from schools on the east coast than they are from schools in other parts of the country. I decided to get my bachelor’s degree in English because I love to read and analyze great works of fiction, and I am passionate about writing fiction. After I graduated from UNH, life took me in a different direction, away from literature and writing. I ended up going into the legal profession with the intention of going to law school. However, after working as a paralegal for a few years, I became very cynical. I was unhappy with the direction my life was going, and I was very unhappy working in an office setting for a law firm. About the same time I decided to leave the legal field, I found out that I was pregnant with my now 5.5-year-old son. I worked odd jobs for four and half years. As a single mom, those four and half years were very difficult. I have been married to a wonderful, caring man for a year and three months now. Before I enrolled in the graduate program at SNHU, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. My husband knows how passionate I am about literature and writing, and that one of my life goals is to write a novel, so he suggested that I go back to school to get my master’s degree in English. I am very grateful to SNHU for giving me the opportunity to rediscover what it is I have a talent for and what I really love to do! I have really enjoyed the classes I have taken so far, and I am looking forward to continuing on this incredible journey.
