SNHU Spotlight: Prince Gelito, MS in Cybersecurity Grad

Prince Gelito, a 2024 SNHU graduate who earned his master's degree in cybersecurity.

Prince Gelito '24G said he wants to become a well-known cybersecurity professional, in the hopes of keeping the world safe from cybercriminals. To help him pursue that goal, he earned his Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).

Having heard about SNHU through coworkers, Gelito said he felt the university had a lot to offer him. He was especially drawn to the cybersecurity program, he said, but also appreciated SNHU’s reputation among organizations.

Gelito, who is currently serving in the United States Army Reserves, said his advisor and instructors were always understanding of his needs as a military learner.

“They helped me out a lot,” he said. “Especially if I had some operations in the field. Just give them a heads up about what is going to happen in the future, and they can work with you.”

What he has learned at SNHU will assist him in his day-to-day work, Gelito said, especially in terms of understanding the technical language used in the cybersecurity field.

As the first member in his family to receive a master’s degree, Gelito said it's an important achievement. To celebrate this milestone, he drove from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to attend SNHU’s fall 2024 commencement.

“(It’s) amazing,” he said. “(I’m) full of emotions."

Despite the hard work of earning his degree, Gelito said he had a final bit of advice for prospective students considering the same: “Give it a chance. It’s worth to have the degree from this school.”
