Qualifications for becoming a project manager can vary widely depending on the industry you work in, such as technology, construction or healthcare. Before you decide to enroll in a project management course, you'll want to ensure the path you're considering can can help you achieve the goal you have in mind. If you're already working in an industry you love and are looking to add to your skill set, a project management course could be right for you.
Project management is a field where experience can make a big difference, but education can, too. In certain industries, you may first be required to have experience in the field itself — such as healthcare, marketing or construction — before you can move into a project management role.
Education can also support a fruitful career path for those without experience. There are many ways, whether through coursework, a degree or industry certification, you can upskill to become a project manager without necessarily having project management experience beforehand.
While a project management course can't give you industry experience, it can help you gain the skills and competencies you need to move into a project management role.
