SNHU Degree: Associate of Science (AS) in Marketing
Graduation Year: 2025
State: New Jersey
Fun Fact: Started her own jewelry business during the pandemic

When Remy Twine ‘25 found Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), it had been over 20 years since she’d last been in school. Returning was a big step — one made possible through determination, resilience and an opportunity at work she never expected.

As a process guide at Amazon, Twine discovered she was able to take advantage of the Amazon Career Choice program, which aims to make college affordable and accessible for Amazon employees. For Twine, the idea of finishing what she started so many years ago felt personal.

“I have a lot of friends, and I watched them graduate and accomplish all of their dreams — and I was sitting back wishing it was me,” she said. “But I knew that sooner or later, it would be me.”

Her goals were professional in nature, too. In addition to her role at Amazon, Twine owns a jewelry business. Earning an associate degree in marketing felt like a natural fit, she said: a program that could give her the skills to turn her side hustle into something more.

“Marketing plays a huge part in your sales,” she said. “My small business could turn into a bigger business — and then, who knows?”

Determination to Celebration

Twine’s schedule isn’t a traditional 9-5. She works night shifts at Amazon, and said that SNHU’s online format made balancing school, work and other responsibilities feasible. During her associate degree program, she’d fit studying in on her days off: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The flexibility to build her own schedule, plus the next-level support she received during her program, were two standout elements of Twine’s SNHU experience.

“I had the best advisor,” she said. “She made sure I had everything I needed.”

Reflecting back on her journey to her degree, Twine has some advice for those like her: the first in their family to go to college. Those who haven’t been to school since the 90s. Anyone who feels nervous to take the next step.

“Nothing worth having is going to be easy, but it’s possible,” she said. “I overcame adversity. I was determined, and I did it. Do not ever stop chasing your dreams.”
