SNHU Spotlight: Calise Wall, BS in Information Technology Grad

Calise Wall, a 2024 graduate who earned a bachelor's degree in information technology from SNHU.As an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force, Calise Wall '24 said she was looking for a degree that could help here her advance her military IT career. To help her achieve that goal, Wall earned an online Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).

Though she lives in Indiana, Wall said it was important for her to attend graduation in person so she could share what she called "a major milestone" with her 7-year-old son and other family members, who were watching.

"It feels really great to be here. I'm an online student so I didn't really get the full, like on-campus experience that some students typically get," Wall said. "So being here in person, it just feels so surreal."

Wall said she chose SNHU for the convenience and flexibility of earning her degree online, and she credited the university's military support for helping her make it to the finish line.

"It's a very military-friendly school," she said. "I think they understand the military needs very well. The advisors are pretty knowledgeable on military policies and financial assistance that we receive, so it's not like having to explain the same things over and over."

Wall said she would definitely recommend SNHU to other service members for the wide range of programs to choose from and the flexibility of an online degree.

"They have so many options for degrees, so many options for in-person or online (classes) schedule-wise... with all the different semesters that they have throughout the year," Wall said. "I would say it's a great school."

Acknowledging that working toward her degree was challenging at times, Wall shared a quote she likes: "Difficult roads lead to great destinations." She said all her hard work was definitely worth it in the end.

When reflecting on who she was when she started her degree at SNHU and who she is now, Wall said, "I would say the number one thing that has changed the most is probably my confidence. I feel very comfortable now at work; just knowing that I know so much more and just having taken these classes, it's really helped me excel every day at work."
